The MCP Manifesto was launched concurrently with the official opening of the party's campaign ahead of the September 16 polls.
Lilongwe came to a standstill on Saturday, July 19 2025 when President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera led his Malawi Congress Party in a grandiose convergence of party supporters and admirers from all districts to Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe for the official launch of the 2025 election campaign and the party manifesto.
Multitudes started gathering as early as 5am for parades from various designated places such as Simama Hotel, Area 18 Memorial Tower, and Civo Stadium to the venue of the day's event.
The parades linked up at Area 18 inter-change where a mammoth crowd yielded into one sea of people marching amidst songs, chants, ululation and clapping into Bingu Stadium where a number of features had been lined up.
The event was a mixture of music performances by some of the country's popular outfits such as Black Missionaries, Skeffa Chimoto, Masintha Chitsitsimusto Choir, Symon & Kendall among others.
Then came the momentous occasion when a golden briefcase was lowered from the roof onto the podium where the Malawi leader welcomed it before unveiling the manifesto booklet to the over 60,000 strong audience that packed the venue.
The five pillars that are under focus for his second term are Public Service Delivery: Chakwera Masterplan; Governance Reform: Rebooting the System; Wealth Creation: Multiplying Zikhwaya; Create Jobs 4 All - Jobs 4 Life and Make Malawi Feed Itself.
In his address when unveiling the manifesto to Malawians, President Chakwera outlined a fresh vision that mirrors his Chakwera Super Hi5 that propelled him into office in 2020.
The five pillars that are under focus for his second term are Public Service Delivery: Chakwera Masterplan; Governance Reform: Rebooting the System; Wealth Creation: Multiplying Zikhwaya; Create Jobs 4 All - Jobs 4 Life and Make Malawi Feed Itself.
Among the expected deliverables in the new agenda are food security via mega farms, creation of three million jobs and wealth for thousands more.
The President will also launch the campaign in all the four regions of the country starting with Mzimba next week followed by Ngabu in Chikwawa and Mangochi thereafter.
