The 32nd AFREXIM Bank annual meetings offers an opportunity for Malawi to continue positioning itself as a strategic market within the Africa Continental Free Trade Area
His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, has today departed for Abuja, Federal Republic of Nigeria where he will attend the 32nd Annual Meetings of the African Export-Import Bank (AFREXIM Bank).
The meetings will be held from Wednesday 25th to Friday 27th June under the theme “Building the Future on Decades of Resilience”
In attendance will be African and Caribbean Heads of State and Government and members of the Bank, ministers, central bank governors, private sector leaders, international academia and thought leaders, finance institutions and development partners.
Discussions will center on accelerating intra-African trade, enhancing investment, and promoting economic transformation across the continent.
During the sessions, the Malawi leader will hold bilateral talks with world leaders to forge deeper partnerships in priority sectors in Malawi’s development agenda namely; Agriculture, Tourism and Mining together with other enabling sectors like infrastructure and digital innovation.
Discussions will center on accelerating intra-African trade, enhancing investment, and promoting economic transformation across the continent.
Some of these leaders include Nigeria President Bola Tinubu and AFREXIM Bank President and Chairman of the Board of Directors Professor Benedict Oramah.
AFREXIM Bank has over the past years been a strategic partner for Malawi as it anchored discussions on a clear roadmap to address issues of debt sustainability through a viable debt management plan.
