Agricultural Commercialization & Mega Farms Initiative

Help spread the word about this important policy
To transition from subsistence farming to commercial agriculture, the administration has introduced Mega Farms aimed at large-scale production. These farms have been established in collaboration with the Malawi Defence Force, Malawi Prisons, private investors, and cooperatives.
There has been a deliberate allocation of over 18,000 hectares of land to grow commercial crops such as groundnuts, soybeans, maize, and rice.
The administration has also made sure that there are viable markets for these mega farmers so that the entire value chain is supported to create jobs and wealth for Malawians. Off-taker agreements have been put in place with major companies to secure local and international markets.
