President Chakwera has since first day in office stayed on course to boost job creation through private sector engagement and industrialization. This is in line with the dictates of the Malawi2063 blueprint which places Industrialization as a key component in achieving job and wealth creation for Malawi’s economy.
Problems to be solved
Removed barriers for businesses to encourage job creation
Reoriented incoherent policy frameworks to align them to a singular industrialization drive
Established sustainable collaboration within private sector and productive synergies with government on all matters trade and industries
Opportunities to unlock
Developed Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in Blantyre, Lilongwe, and Mzuzu, expected to create over 240,000 direct jobs.
Effected the National Export Strategy II (2021-2026) to enhance trade related jobs.
Disbursed K34.7 billion to 107,505 MSMEs via National Economic Empowerment Fund
