In a bid to address youth unemployment through skills development and job placement programs, the administration has among other key interventions launched the National Youth Service.
There has also been an expansion of Technical, Entrepreneurial, and Vocational Education and Training (TEVET) institutions and establishment of Community Technical Colleges in Salima, Nkhatabay, and other regions.
Problems to be solved
Lack of opportunities for young people to acquire requisite skills to earn a decent living
Low wages for fresh graduates who intend to establish a sustainable career within their trade
Capacity building for trainers in technical and vocational institutions
Opportunities to unlock
Enrolled 3,582 youths in the National Youth Service.
Increased technical college enrollment to 11,034 students.
Trained 20 instructors to degree level, 15 to Masters level, 1 to PhD level.
