His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera continued his campaign trail today with whistle-stop engagements across Dowa Central, Dowa West, Dowa Mndolera, Dowa Mphudzu, Dowa Ngala, and Dowa Kasangadzi constituencies. The President was warmly welcomed by chiefs, party officials, and thousands of supporters, who reaffirmed their trust in his leadership and vision for Malawi.

Speaking directly to the people, President Chakwera emphasized the importance of safeguarding the progress made since 2020. He assured communities that his administration is committed to fixing roads, reducing the cost of fertilizer, and empowering farmers with better prices and opportunities to thrive.

The President also underscored bold plans to transform the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) into a fully-fledged bank, ensuring farming and small businesses have reliable support. He highlighted Dowa’s mineral wealth, particularly its rich deposits of graphite, which surpass those of Madagascar. “Mining revenue will accelerate development and be turned into sovereign wealth to benefit our children and grandchildren,” he said.

In addition, President Chakwera announced upcoming dam projects to expand access to clean water and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to state-of-the-art infrastructure designed to last for generations. He encouraged communities to remain peaceful during the campaign, urging citizens not to be distracted by negativity from the opposition.

Drawing an analogy familiar to farmers, the President said: “When you plant a seed, you don’t dig it out the next day to check if it’s growing—you give it time. That is how development works. What we planted together in 2020 is already sprouting, and with your vote on September 16, we will see it bear fruit.”

As the day concluded, President Chakwera reminded the people of Dowa that their votes matter in shaping Malawi’s future. “Your unity and energy give me confidence that together, we will continue building a Malawi that delivers prosperity for all.”
