PRESIDENT CHAKWERA LAYS OUT TRANSFORMATION PLAN FOR MZUZU CITY

His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, undertook a vibrant whistle stop tour across key locations in Mzuzu City, engaging directly with residents to share his vision for continued transformation under the five pillars of the 2025 Manifesto.

The tour began in Chigwere, where President Chakwera made history as the first sitting Head of State to visit the community. He also highlighted his decision to elevate Tonga leadership to the position of Senior Chief, pledging to invest in infrastructure upgrades, expand access to clean water, and deliver development anchored on the five pillars The President introduced his running mate to the crowd, who was warmly welcomed with shouts of “Adha Vitu!”.

At Area 1B Market, President Chakwera met with traders and small business owners, recognizing their role in driving local economic activity. He outlined measures to boost market infrastructure, improve access to finance, and create an enabling environment for entrepreneurship to thrive.

In Kavibale, the president focused on food security and climate resilience, reaffirming plans to implement irrigation farming and ensure durable road connections to improve trade and transport for farmers and traders.

The tour concluded in Kauwa, where President Chakwera reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to delivering on all five pillars of the Manifesto; job creation and economic growth, infrastructure development, quality healthcare, access to education, and ethical leadership.

Speaking to the people of Mzuzu, President Chakwera expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and pledged to continue working hand-in-hand with the community to build a Malawi that works for all.

“Mzuzu has shown me its heart today — a heart of unity, resilience, and ambition. Together, we will make our vision a reality,” said the President.

The Mzuzu whistle stop tour reflected the President’s ongoing dedication to grassroots engagement, ensuring that development plans are shaped by the voices and priorities of the people themselves.
