His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera continued his campaign trail across Lilongwe City Lumbadzi Constituency and several constituencies in Dowa District, where he engaged communities to reaffirm his bold development vision for Malawi’s future.

The President expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and unity shown, noting that the votes cast in 2020 have already unlocked meaningful progress across the region. He emphasized the importance of peace and unity during the campaign, while urging citizens to turn out in large numbers to vote on September 16 so that development can continue.

In his remarks, the President highlighted progress in road construction, the extension of electricity through MAREP, and efforts to reduce fertilizer prices to support farmers.

He also underscored the expansion of irrigation farming as a response to climate change and food insecurity, backed by new farming technologies to guide planting seasons. Farmers, he assured, will continue to receive better prices for their produce as part of his government’s commitment to empowering rural communities.

President Chakwera also emphasized the role of the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF), pledging to transform it into a fully-fledged bank to support farming and business growth. This, he noted, is part of a wider effort to create more Malawian millionaires and build a resilient economy.

At Matekenya Health Centre, the President appreciated the renovations carried out through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), describing the facility as vital to the community’s wellbeing. He further highlighted the Khato Civils water project, stressing its importance in delivering clean and reliable water to households across Dowa and beyond, a development that will greatly improve people’s quality of life.

“Every Malawian matters. No one should feel left behind, whether in the city or the remotest village,” he said. “With your trust and your vote, we will continue delivering state-of-the-art developments that last for generations.”

The President concluded by assuring communities that the progress already made in his first term is only the beginning, and that the second term will secure even greater achievements through mining revenue, expanded infrastructure, and strengthened social programs.
