Among his first duties upon taking the reins of power was expedition of this particular project to solve persistent problems locals and visitors were facing to board and load cargo on large ships especially the MV Ilala.
The President quickly ordered that the jetty be upgraded to a normal port fitted with heavy duty cranes that are capable of loading and offloading huge amounts of cargo.
