Sustainable Development Goal #6 and Malawi2063 Implementation Plan 1 (MIP1) envisage access to clean water for all Malawians by the year 2030. It is from this firm estimate that the Chakwera administration is motivated to give households across the country clean water, sanitation and hygienic services.
This it has done by constructing landmark water and sanitation projects across the country, including one in the lakeshore district of Mangochi.
Commissioned in 2023, the Nkhudzi Bay Water Supply Scheme is now benefitting over 93,000 customers including households, public facilities and businesses in the lakeshore district.
Mangochi - a tourism town earmarked for upgrading to secondary city status - deserves these critical services that will in turn drive growth of the sectors that have been fronted as rapid catalysts of sustainable growth namely; agriculture, tourism and mining.
